The construction of the multi-million Integrated Coconut Processing Plant of Roxas Sigma Agriventures Inc. (RSAI) commenced last March 2016. RSAI is a joint venture between Roxas & Company, Inc. and Sigma Xynergies Corporation. Following its groundbreaking ceremony on December 2, 2015, the new plant aims to boost the Philippine coconut industry’s presence in the global market. This venture will also provide many new opportunities for the coconut farmers of Tupi, South Cotabato and the nearby municipalities.
The high-technology processing facility is located in a 2.2-hectare property in Tupi. It is strategically located in an area of abundant coconut supply, and excellent road network and access to the port city of General Santos and an international airport. The facility is designed to process, at full capacity, 300 metric tons of coconuts per day to produce coconut cream & milk, virgin coconut oil, and coconut water concentrate.
Consistent high-quality products will be made possible by proprietary processes, latest technology, and cutting-edge equipment to be utilised in this first-of-its-kind processing plant. The products will primarily serve the export market.
The plant marks a major milestone for the Philippine coconut industry, seeing as it is the first of its kind. It also aims to solidify the country’s position as the global source of high quality processed coconut products, giving it the edge against other competitors in the world market.
The estimated completion date of the construction is set for the first quarter of 2017. Commercial operations are scheduled to commence shortly after that.
