Last April 6, 2018, RSAI employees conducted its 2nd Clean-Up Drive at the river of Purok 10 Tupi, South Cotabato
In line with the “Adopt-a-River Program” of Tupi’s Brgy. Poblacion, RSAI’s partnership with the LGUs for the 2nd time showcases the company’s efforts in leading the local community in taking care of the environment.
The activity started at 7:30 AM and was supposed to end at 10:00 AM but due to the massive turnout, the activity ended ahead of time at 9:30 AM. Before the volunteers started cleaning the river, they were instructed to be extra careful in avoiding injuries that might cause harm to their health especially when exposed to the running waters of the river that has a lot of household waste thrown by unconcerned citizens. They were also instructed to only collect non-biodegradable materials that clogs up the river and destroys the ecosystem as it will be the only materials that will be collected by the LGU dump truck. The biodegradable materials are then properly placed beside the river where it can decompose.
During the clean-up, the residents near the river stated that the garbage that can be seen were coming from upstream and build up at the site of the clean-up during heavy rains. Other alleged sources of the garbage collected at the river are from non-residents of Purok 10 that dispose their garbage at night time to avoid the penalties imposed by the Barangay Ordinance.
Since the day Roxas Sigma Agriventures, Inc. started, RSAI closely monitors the state of the river and coordinates with the LGUs in all activities that will help in improving the environment. Other projects in work are the improvement and protection of the natural spring, also located within Purok 10.
