Roxas Sigma Agriventures, Inc. (RSAI) COO, Domingo R. Capistrano, was resource speaker at the Investments Forum spearheaded by The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) , in coordination with the Board of Investments. This is a component of the Negosyo, Konsumer at Iba Pa Program hosted by DTI Region XII last July 13 to July 15, 2016, held at the Greenleaf Hotel, General Santos City. The three-day event showcased various DTI services to the public, including consumer protection and enterprise development. One of the main objectives of the event is to create B2B opportunities, especially in the agribusiness sector.
Mr. Capistrano presented the business model of RSAI and how it can create numerous business opportunities for suppliers in Region XII. Aside from this, he also discussed the innovative technologies and processes involved in the first-of-its-kind Integrated Coconut Processing Plant that is currently being constructed in Tupi, South Cotabato. This plant will provide significant employment opportunities and an economic boost to Tupi and the neighboring towns, even while construction is on-going, and up to when the plant becomes operational in early 2017. The very positive responses from many in the audience, coconut farmers and entrepreneurs, confirmed the relevance and benefits to be derived from this venture. Interested parties were not limited to the communities adjacent to the plant location, but even beyond the SOCCKSARGEN region where the prospects of replicating the RSAI business model is deemed viable.
Mr. Capistrano also pointed out the need to initiate “a major paradigm shift from producing commodity coconut products to high quality, high value products to benefit from the full potential of the coconut industry in the Philippines”.
The event also included an afternoon session for one-on-one business matching with Mr. Capistrano and the farmers, local investors, and Local Economic and Investment Promotion Officers (LEIPO) who attended the event.
